Steven Parker was born at Lismore NSW, Australia in 1971. He began drawing and painting from an early age. Steven remembers when he was six or seven years old every time there was motor racing on television he would sit there and sketch cars or bikes and paint them in the sponsor's colours. Through his teenage years, Steven experimented with mediums ranging from pencil and charcoal to oils and watercolours, often using his pets or assorted wildlife as the subject. His love for birds and animals has led Steven to painting many wildlife paintings, some being commissions and some being donated to the all important wildlife rescue associations. Further experimenting led Steven to discovering the airbrush and was immediately hooked on smooth crisp blends it could achieve. The airbrush tool was ideal for car and bike paintings with their smooth reflective panels and chrome. Steven was soon doing paintings for car and bike enthusiasts. In between commissions Steven would enter art shows and in 1996 won the first prize for realism and has won several peoples choice awards. The versatility of the airbrush enabled Steven to spray his artwork onto guitars, helmets, motorcycle tanks and guards. Several motorcycles displaying Steven's artwork have appeared in magazines and won trophies. Since 1997 Stevens airbrush skills have also been used in the film industry for painting animatronic animals and aliens, as well as prosthetics for actors. Working on the film set of Beastmaster close to the big cats like tigers has led Steven to including them in his recent paintings. When not painting, Steven and his wife Monique enjoy visiting wildlife parks, car and bike shows and driving their custom 1965 Ford Falcon Delivery. |
